Finding the Awesomeness in Bad Situations

While checking email this morning, I came across this email from Be Strong.  It is a monthly guide to resilience.  One of the titles intrigued me and I wanted to share it with all of you.  It is a quick read and an easy reminder to find the good in bad situations.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  Have a Marvelous Monday!  https://bestrong.global/resources/student/tips-and-techniques-student/2019/finding-the-awesomeness-in-bad-situations/?inf_contact_key=d2cf7152ea1fe2afd80190f11350bda54dfbc39d7283b2cb89d5189540b69330

Welcome back

Good morning, We hope everyone had a wonderful break. We are down to the wire...only a few weeks left. These upcoming weeks bring alot of angst and stress due to testing. Below are some useful tips for teaching emotional regulation and improving classroom behavior at the same time. It is important we teach children the connection on how they feel and how they act. Students often act out because of the way they feel. If we reach them internally, and help them express how they feel, then the way they act could be significantly improved. If we spend some time teaching emotional regulation children will realize they are in control of their feelings and actions in a positive manner instead of a negative one. Below are some ideas on how to incorporate this in your classroom. As always, thank you for all you do! https://www.weareteachers.com/emotional-regulation/

What makes a....Good/Great Teacher?

Good morning, Another week, another Monday. Your students will be waiting eagerly to enter your classroom in a matter of minutes. They want to give you a hug and share what they did they weekend. They are excited to learn, you can tell by their giant smiles. They want to fill their heads with new information. They enjoy the community and family feel you have built in your room. They feel welcomed, appreciated and respected. Each one of them has a special talent that they bring to your classroom daily. They are individualized with their own individual needs; which we all do a great job in constantly going above and beyond to meet. We all want to be great, who doesn't. The best part...each one of us are great, in our own way- within the workforce, as a friend, a mother etc. We don't wake up each day just wanting to be okay, or good...we want to be great. The article below has 9 qualities that describe what that looks like. I'll be honest, when I read this, I immediately tho...

High Expectations

Image
Good morning Mighty Manatees, This article is spot on to what we should be doing to help our students be successful. It is important we set high expectations for ALL of our students, they ALL have the capability to be successful. Take a few minutes to read the article below, I guarantee it will allow you to reflect on your own practice. We grow from what we learn from...enjoy! One important take away.. Motivation leads to achievement Teachers need to have high expectations for every child in the classroom – and never more so than when our students have low expectations for themselves. It’s critical that we examine our beliefs to ensure they do represent a view of success for our struggling students. Then we must examine our behaviors closely, using the observational data from Marzano and others, to determine whether we are putting our beliefs into action. By making our positive actions match our high expectations, we not only motivate our struggl...

We all know how busy the next few months will be. We overcame the first half of the year so now it is time to tackle the second. Testing is quickly approaching, which means endless hours of test prep, anxiousness, stress...etc. Not only do we feel it but our students do as well. It is imperative we work together so they see the cohesiveness. We will have to work together, lean on one another, support and encourage each other. It does not take one person, it takes a team. We are more powerful and strong as a whole, not as one. We are all working hard, so why not work hard together. Take a few minutes to read the below...the benefits of teaming and the 10 commandments. "The strongest teams have members who have open minds, strong work ethics, creativity, and good leadership," she said. "There's no room for personal agendas when it comes to teaming." "The important characteristics of a strong team are that the members work together, acknowledge and use eac...
